The Obsession has packed a whole lot of aperture into a pretty light package. Looking at the weight specs, you would think that the Obsession should be a whole lot heavier. The only problem is that the heaviest component in the Obsession is 62 lb. That is sufficiently heavy that you will simply not be able to set it up by yourself. You may think you can, but you will not be able to do it easily enough that you will want to do it. That is a real problem, which may well result in the unfortunate condition of a beautiful scope staying in the closet. The 18 inch aperture is a real attraction, but unless you have a way to get around this issue, I would go with the Starmaster. A scope that sits in the closet is more of a coat hanger than an instrument. Good Luck and Clear Skies!
