achieving depth of field with a pocket camcorder?

Hi, I recently ordered a Kodak zi8 pocket camera and have been trying to figure out any possible ways to achieve a depth of field or get manual focus for it. I found out one option to do this. I can buy a "telescopic" cell phone Camera Lens with an 8x zoom and manual focus to put on it shown here:

First of all I wouldn't touch one of those lenses with a barge pole - the quality will be horrible! Depth of field depend on aperture - the wider the aperture, the shallower the depth of field. Since all the controls are automatic, the only thing you can do is adjust the lighting to try and force the aperture to go the way you want. If you want a shallow depth of field (wide aperture) you could try experimenting with neutral density filters.
